The Spy Museum

Today, my mom and I visited the Spy Museum, THIS ONE WAS NOT FREE! The experience began with us being assigned cover identities. My name was Briar Stelby, an artist from Athens, Greece. We then watched a short film in a small theater about what it takes to be a spy. When the film ended, the theater doors opened, leading us into a fascinating room filled with exhibits on spies and gadgets from around the world. One standout exhibit was another film, Mosab & Gonan, which delved into the lives of recruits, spies, terrorists, criminals, and assassins. Throughout the museum, we participated in an “undercover mission,” using our cover identities to complete interactive exercises at different stages. The part that intrigued me most was the technological use of animals as spies. I imagine that artificial animals innovating the spy community was a groundbreaking leap. Gadgets in general were such a broad and exciting topic. I could explore them all day if given the chance. I only wish I could’ve tried some of them myself! The James Bond (007) exhibit, however, stole the show for me. It felt like I was stepping into Bond’s garage, surrounded by vehicles and choosing a means of transportation. The exhibit was so captivating that it inspired me to make a vlog for my YouTube channel. Overall, while I wouldn’t rank the Spy Museum above D.C.’s free museums. They are just as insightful and high-quality but it was a really fun outing. I’m excited to see what my mom and I do next. Stay tuned!
